Start planning your honeymoon. Get travel information




Four to six months before the wedding:

Order wedding invitations, stationery and accessories

Book travel arrangements for guests
Book accommodations for out of area guests
Choose store and register with the bridal gift registry
Have parents choose their gowns and suits

Decide on honeymoon and make reservations
Start planning your new home




Two to three months before the wedding:

Address invitations
Select rings and order engraving
Purchase wedding favors
Select gifts for groom and attendants
Select gifts for best man and ushers
Visit your doctor for a physical
Get the marriage license
(Check to see how many days a license is valid.)




One to two months before the wedding:

Order wedding cake
Make appointment for wedding portrait
Have final fittings on your gown and bridesmaids' dresses
Arrange a rehearsal dinner
Mail your Invitations
Prepare wedding program
Arrange transportation:
    to the ceremony
    from the ceremony to reception
    from the reception to your home or hotel
Start recording gifts and writing thank-you notes




Two to three weeks before the wedding:

Get wedding portrait
Send wedding announcement and photo to newspaper
Prepare final schedule for wedding day
Prepare final schedule for reception
Make arrangements for reception seating
Give caterer a final count

Make an appointment with hairdresser for the wedding
Check on accessories for yourself and your attendants
Groom should check on accessories for himself and ushers

Arrange for the move into your new home
Change names and addresses on necessary documents




One week before the wedding:

Final consultation with:

    Musicians
    Florist
Give bridesmaids' luncheon
Confirm rehearsal plans with officiant and attendants
Distribute wedding programs to participants
